Hughenden Manor, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England

Hughenden Manor is a red brick Victorian mansion once owned by Benjamin Disraeli, Prime Minister of England during the reign of Queen Victoria. It can trace its roots back to 1086, when the land was owned by Queen Edith of Wessex, an English Queen. The current manor was built in 1862, when Disraeli commissioned a major renovation of the manor. During World War II, the basement of the manor was used a a secret intelligence base, where British Air Ministry staff analyzed aerial maps of Germany, and created maps for bombing missions.

Today, Hughenden Manor is part of the National Trust, and is open to the public. The manor and gardens have been restored to resemble the time when Benjamin Disraeli and his wife lived there. Its decor includes Disraeli's own furnishings, memorabilia, and a collection of his novels, including one signed by Queen Victoria.
