Mandalay Bay History

Mandalay Bay consists of 328 Single-Family detached boat dock homes. There is also 395 attached townhomes with boat docks. The first builder, Zurn, built in 1970 were all two story ranging from 1800 square foot to 2237 square foot with master bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The second builder, Armstrong, built in 1976 were smaller, ranging from 1220 square foot to 1820 square foot with all master bedrooms on the first floor. If you look at the floor plans for both Zurn and Armstrong, it states that these are townhomes, not single-family homes.

The original sign at the corner of Meridian and Harbor Boulevard showed Mandalay Bay with a large sailing ship logo installed by builder Boise Cascade in 1970. Because of age, it was recently commissioned to be replaced, the new sign reads "Mandalay Bay, Channel Islands Harbor". There are no boat dock homes in Channel Islands harbor, never has been never will be. See Website below for who owns Channel Islands Harbor, it's all leased land. The history of Channel Islands harbor states that Mandalay Bay north of Channel Islands Boulevard is surrounded by approximately 730 homes, most detached homes are located on the east side of the channel. Most Townhomes are located on the west side of the main channel. The sign was designated to draw prospective buyers to Jamestown Lane where builder Zurn and Armstrong had model homes for viewing. Also, Boise Cascade had seven single-family detached homes on the main channel with three or four being model homes for viewing.
