Fred Herrman
Fred Herrman grew up for the first ten years of his life in a house atop the Hollywood Hills, a neighborhood where there were still many open lots to be sold in the early 1970’s. His father built their first house for $55,000 in 1962. At age ten, the family moved down to the quaint, and at that time, sleepy neighborhood of Studio City, which was later to become one of the mecca’s of movie star homes.
Some of the entertainment folks who lived within a stone’s throw of Fred’s parents’ house were Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Eden, William Conrad, David Rose, Loni Anderson, Steven Segal, Patrick Swayze, Robert Hegyes, Drew Barrymore and her mother, Andy & David Williams, and Leif Garrett, among many more.
Fred had many interests growing up, including film, music, stock investing, homes, and traveling. His parents introduced him to many places in the United States though family trips, especially New York, Boston, and surrounding areas where they have extended family.
He attended the University of Southern California and majored in psychology, having had a mother who was a child development specialist. He also focused on film and music during his time at U.S.C., learning to play jazz piano and attended Boston’s Berklee’s College of Music for a summer performance program. After graduating from U.S.C. in 1988, he worked in group homes and psychiatric hospitals with children and adults for four years before deciding to move into entertainment.
Fred joined the Walt Disney Company in 1993, starting first in their television division as a Production Assistant on “Boy Meets World,” then moving into their feature animation devision and onto his first of six films, “Pocahontas,” where he would serve as a Production Supervisor. After leaving Disney to work on some live-action shoots, he was invited to join DreamWorks Animation from 2004 through 2006, where he met regularly with Jeffrey Katzenberg in production related meetings, which was a thrill for him as he enjoyed all of the work that Mr. Katzenberg had done in his career.
After he finished his work at DreamWorks in late 2006, Fred moved into the world of real estate, starting work at Shorewood Realtors in Manhattan Beach with Arnold Goldstein and Dave Caskey. In 2010, he joined broker Bill Toth at First Class Real Estate. In 2024, Fred joined the busy and productive offices of Coldwell Banker Preferred, Realtors in Bakersfield, a community that has had strong growth and great housing opportunities.
Fred enjoys helping people prepare to list their homes for sale. His experience in purchasing and renovating homes for his own portfolio has given him the breadth of knowledge and insight to help others locate solid investment properties in order to help them reach their financial and investment goals. Hence, his business mission statement, “Helping You Reach Your Financial and Real Estate Investment Goals”
Fred represents clients buying and selling real estate in the Los Angeles area. He also specializes in helping people make the transition from the Los Angeles area to Bakersfield, a growing, and vibrant city that he has known intimately since 1996.
