Ventura is a county seat town located in the northwest of Los Angeles and accessible by Route 101, State Route 33 and State Route 126. The population in Ventura is about 106,433 and, due to the increasing population density in the last decades, is a charming place for people of all ages and races. Ventura is actually named the City of San Buenaventura after the, 1782 founded, Mission San Buenaventura, but has been come to be known as Ventura. Ventura, CA has a fascinating history. The original Chumash inhabitants once called the city “Shisholop”, which translates to “in the mud”.

In addition to history, this neat little town offers superb outdoor activities like surfing, swimming, camping, fishing and hiking. If you find flora and fauna irresistible then Ventura’s Emma Wood State Beach should be on your list. Emma Wood State Beach is a great place to see a wide variety of wildlife like blue herons and raccoons, while dolphins can be seen swimming just offshore. You may also want to visit San Buenaventura State Beach, which is about two miles long and is well known for its 1,700 foot pier that comes equipped with restaurants, snack bars and rental shops. Volleyball Tournaments and countless other special events take place on Ventura’s shoreline each year.

It is nearly impossible to hear the term “boredom” used in the same sentence as Ventura, CA because aside from Ventura’s lovely beaches there are an enormous number of parks that can be explored. There is the Arroyo Verde Park, Eastwood Park, Grand Park or Rancho Ventura Linear Park to name only a few.

From different church schools to independent study schools, high schools, colleges and universities such as the Ventura Adult and Continuing Education College or the Southern California Institute of Law, everyone will find the right education or form of higher learning that they are looking for in Ventura.
